Griz

Ten minutes after Jude leaves, I push through the front doors of the main lodge, thankful when I see Mitchell, Stone and Orion drinking at the bar. Now that we’re nearly done with the cabins, there’s a lot of drinking happening.

“There you are,” barks Mitchell with a wave in my direction. When I get closer, his face falls. “Jude came stomping into my room a bit ago to talk to Carmen and Alice. You want to tell us your side of the story?”

Next to him, Stone snorts. “You take me up on that offer we talked about earlier?”

Orion gets up as Mal comes around the corner, wrapping her arms around his neck and burying her face just under his ear. He says goodbye, and it’s just Stone, Mitchell and me left.

Stone hands me a whiskey with a wry look on his face. “You get some relief, brother?”

Next to him, Mitchell’s barely able to keep a smirk off his face, so they must have talked about it. I frown at him but nod at Stone anyhow. “I did, and that’s part of the problem.”

It’s so awkward I want to sink into the floorboard, but ten minutes later I’m four whiskeys in, and I’ve shared my whole interaction with Jude with both of the alphas.

“Wait a minute,” barks Mitchell in disbelief. “You told her you made other arrangements?”

Frowning, I nod. “Yeah. I guess I thought she’d be relieved.”

Stone snorts out a deep laugh, throwing his whiskey back as he smiles at Mitchell and then me.

Mitchell smiles kindly. “I suspect Jude took ‘other arrangements’ to mean another omega, Griz.”

I choke on the whiskey I’m throwing back, gasping as it burns all the way down into my lungs. “Another omega?”

“Dumbass,” snorts Stone with a cackle. “She doesn’t know about the Omegamatic; she thinks you’re screwing around with one of the omegas here probably. This shit didn’t occur to you when you said it?!”

I’m…at a loss. “It truly didn’t,” I admit as I frown back at Mitchell. Jude has my mind wrapped up in a tangle I can’t seem to sort out.

“I’m surprised you didn’t see that angle, friend,” my pack alpha says gently. “How can I he—”

Stone breaks in with a huge roaring laugh. “Oh Lord. She’s got him all.tied.in.knots, Mitchell.” He laughs so hard, his entire face goes red, and I’ve had enough.

Pulling to a stand, I stride around the table and yank Stone up out of the chair with both hands around his neck. He growls immediately, shoving me back. He’s strong, not as tall as me, but he’s a pack alpha. He pushes back with natural command and full intensity.

For a brief moment, we glare at one another, snarling, before I fall fast to the ground on my back, throwing him hard over my shoulder. He hits the ground with a rumbling snarl, and he’s up quick. We’re a flurry of teeth and fists when the front door opens and a woman’s voice rings through the lobby.

“Stone Alistair, get up off the ground this instant.
